Piqua Catholic PTO
plays the important role of providing easy communication between staff and
parents. Another major function of the PTO is raising money for special
projects.
One project they tackle is the selling of Scrip. Scrip are gift certificates
to both local and national stores that can be purchased at face value. That
is to say, if one purchases a $5.00 Scrip to Kroger the cost is $5.00. There
is no extra cost to the person who purchases the Scrip - it is dollar for
dollar. The school receives percentages of the money sold from each store
the Scrip is purchased from.
The sale of Scrip provided approximately $15,000 during the 2001-2002 school
year. PTO funds were used to provide tether ball and funnel ball games and
benches for each campus; an Artist in Residence at each campus for two weeks;
the 8th grade graduation party; and to provide each classroom teacher with
funds to purchase classroom supplies. PTO also provided partial funding
for teacher aides and the school musical.
Scrip is sold in the offices of both campuses during school hours, and sold
at St. Mary and St. Boniface Parishes on weekends. |
