SPIRIT DAY!
Since we will not have school on Friday, we are moving our normal Spirit Day to TOMORROW! 💙💛

Good morning,
Over the last few years, I have had the privilege to help the 6th grade classes design, organize, and carry out fundraisers based on a novel they read in my classroom. Each of the last three years, my 6th graders have participated in the Iron Giraffe Challenge which pushes them to help raise money to bring clean water to the African country of South Sudan. The money the students and others around the world raise each year helps fund the operating costs of the organization Water for South Sudan as they drill water wells in remote areas of South Sudan. These wells now allow the people who live in undeveloped villages to no longer worry about the questions of, "How do I survive off the little water I have?" and "Where do I find drinking water?" when they wake up each and every day. These wells allow children to go to school, agriculture to develop, and help bring the people of the villages into the modern world where survival isn't the first thing on their minds. ❤️
With the latest donation sent to the Water for South Sudan organization, the students currently in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades have raised enough money to sponsor the building of one of the wells in South Sudan. Later this year, a real, world changing well in South Sudan will have the name of our school on it because of the effort and creativity of these three classes. In my opinion, it would be a challenge to find a more fundamentally life changing impact made by past students than this incredible accomplishment. 💛
As always, none of this could be possible without the generosity of a number of you who've helped with fundraisers throughout the last few years. Thank you again for all of you who have donated to any of the fundraisers in the past as well. I am currently in contact with one of the representatives of the organization, and more information about the project will be relayed in the future. 💙
If you have any interest in helping out the 6th grade classes going forward or if you have any additional questions regarding the Iron Giraffe Challenge, please reach out. The groups have always been appreciative and open to hearing ideas from outside of their group.
Thank you for supporting the Piqua Catholic Water for South Sudan Team!❤️
