Families- As stated in the Family Handbook, cell phones, smart watches, or other personal electronic devices (unless approved by school personnel for use) may NOT be used during school hours. If brought to school, they must be turned "OFF" during school hours (including extended care) and stored in their bookbag.
Smart watches have become more popular with younger kids, which I understand. They offer a great option to families for texting, calling, and location tracking. However, with other advancements in features (ie. video and picture taking, and web access) they have become similar in nature to cell phones. These features invite many risks and concerns for privacy and safety for our staff and students- the same as cell phones. We have already had several reports of students using watches and phones in the restrooms and other times throughout the day.
If students need to contact anyone during the day, they may do so in the front office by using school phones. They are not to use their phones or watches to send messages or make calls during school hours.
To assist you with this transition, we will give reminders to students to remove these watches, turn them off, and put them in their bookbags. By October 16, 2023, we will follow the procedures in the Family Handbook on page 21 (item 19), which may result in school personnel taking these items until the end of the day and/or until parents come and pick them up from school. Please reference the Family Handbook for full details.
Please send me a message or give me a call if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for your help with this!

From October 2nd-October 6th, the 2nd through 8th grade home room classes will be competing against one another in this year's Aluminum Can Recycling Drive!
Each class will be challenged to bring in as many aluminum cans as possible, and at the end of the week, the homeroom who brought in the most cans (determined by weight), will earn a reward party for their class that includes snacks, drinks, and a special surprise! Please ensure your student's name and homeroom are clearly labeled on any bags or containers of cans they would bring in during this competition.
This event is brought to you by the 6th grade Water for South Sudan team as they begin their journey of trying to raise $1,000 to help the effort of bringing clean drinking water to the people of Southern Sudan.
The group is inspired by Salva Dut's, a native of Southern Sudan, remarkable humanitarian efforts in the region. Salva is also the main character of the first novel they're reading this year in Language Arts! Good luck to the 2nd through 8th grade homerooms!
