Open gyms start this summer so don't delay!
Let's go Cavs!💙💛
Reminder that tomorrow is field day! We'll be in the sun starting around 12:00. If you want to send sunscreen for staff to apply, please put in ziploc bag with student/family name. Students can be out of uniform. Gym clothes would be best.
John Cianciolo is retiring this year from teaching and coaching. He has spent over 30 years teaching, coaching and supporting Catholic schools. To let him know how much we appreciate him we are asking that everyone send in a note or card thanking him or a letter with something you remember about him. The students at school will also be making him cards.
He's truly a great asset to our schools and will be greatly missed.
THIS IS A SURPRISE SO PLEASE DON'T TELL HIM. WE WILL GIVE HIM THE LETTERS AND CARDS ON MAY 24th AT 2:30 AT ST. PATRICK SCHOOL. (Mr Z will deliver the cards/ letter from Piqua Catholic)
For the Fourth quarter of the 2022-23 school year, Mrs. Heather Smith has been chosen as our “Outstanding Staff Member of the Quarter.” Congratulations to Mrs. Smith!
Mrs. Smith was born and raised here in PIqua. The house where she grew up was actually built by her great great grandparents. Heather’s mother, Sharon Ritz was the secretary at Piqua Catholic for around 30 years! Mrs. Smith went to St. Boniface School and graduated from Lehman Catholic High School in 1995. Heather’s fifth grade year was the first year for the combined St. Mary and St. Boniface schools to create the new Piqua Catholic School.
After graduating from Lehman, Mrs. Smith went to Edison where she received a Bachelors of Arts Degree, she then went on to graduate from Wright State University with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Education in 2001. Heather went back to Wright State in 2003 to obtain her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership.
Mrs. Smith met her husband, Scott online through Catholic Match and they were married on August 8, 2015 at St. Boniface Church. Heather and Scott lived in Troy while they were building their home outside of Piqua and moved in 2018. They enjoy target shooting, quiet time at home and are going on a cruise together this year!
Heather would really like to take a cooking class because she would like to learn about making different meals and desserts. Mrs. Smith also enjoys taking walks, reading books, and playing the piano. Heather’s passion is music. She learned to play the piano and sing so this has enabled her to volunteer to help play and sing for the St. Mary and St. Boniface Masses.
Mrs. Smith volunteered at Piqua Catholic when she was in College and that’s when she realized that God was calling her to be a teacher. She still gets excited for the first day of school, and, believe it or not, Heather has been at Piqua Catholic as either a student or a teacher for over 30 years!! WOW!
Congratulations, Mrs. Smith for being chosen as our Outstanding Staff Member of the Quarter!
